Installing and maintaining spill pallets correctly

All companies using spill pallets are also required to keep them in good condition. As with any other work equipment, the function of the sump (as well as the collection volume required in the application) must be guaranteed at all times. Necessary maintenance measures must be carried out or defects must be remedied immediately.

In general, ensuring the correct installation of a spill pallet will provide you with a reliable product for a longer period, because in most cases damage occurs as a result of improper handling.

In our overview below we discuss the most important things you should consider when installing and maintaining spill pallets.

What you need to know about the installation and maintenance of spill pallets

As with any other work equipment, the function of a spill pallet (as well as the containment volume prescribed in the application) must be always guaranteed. Necessary maintenance measures must be carried out immediately and any defects found must be rectified immediately.  The DENIOS checklist for the installation, inspection, and maintenance of spill pallets is available for download below.

What if the inspection shows that the spill pallet is no longer functional?

If a plastic spill pallet is significantly impaired in its functionality, it must be removed from service. Steel spill pallets may generally be repaired after the damage that impairs their functionality - however, they must then be subjected to a new leak test by the manufacturer or by a specialist company. If you compare the repair costs with the costs of a new purchase, replacing the old spill pallet with a new one is usually much more economical. In addition, the period during which you must ensure the safe storage of your hazardous substances with an alternative solution is much shorter.
