How a Spill Pallet is Made

Have you ever considered what it takes to make a spill pallet safe for your operations? Many products that are standard today have been developed and continually improved by us. We are on the constant search for new ideas to make the storage of hazardous substances safer, simpler and more functional for our customers. High quality standards must be maintained both in development and in production - after all, a spill pallet fulfills a particularly important function. The risk potential of the stored substances is often considerable and a product failure is not an option. For us as a developer and manufacturer, safety and quality are the top priority. To reflect this in each of our products, we draw on our decades of experience.

New requirements? We implement them!

At DENIOS, ideas for new products emerge in our in-house innovation department. This is constantly looking at, renewing and completing our portfolio. Of course, customer requirements are the most important driver here. In constant dialogue with our customers and through in-depth market observation, requirements and optimisation potential are continuously revealed and translated into new products.

Certain standard sizes are in demand and established on the market. Therefore, we offer a basic portfolio of sumps that are optimised for the storage of common containers. The collection volumes are dictated by law - but it is in the art of the developer to design and construct a spill pallet so that they not only comply with all legal requirements, but are also uncompromisingly functional, space-optimised and modern.

The further focus is on additional functionalities and features that make the user's daily work easier. These include, for example, simple truck and fork-lift traction, integrated filling devices, filling level monitoring, the drainage capacity of steel sumps (for example, for storing liquids in ex-zones) or special feet for the protection of sensitive floors.

From the first draft to the prototype

From a new idea, our designers develop the first designs. This is done until the construction is optimised in every respect and meets our high requirements. At the same time, all current legal requirements, standards and safety-relevant details are constantly in view - as well as cost-effectiveness, so that we can offer you high-quality products at a good price. Following this, we first use theoretical calculation methods to check whether the individual components and the overall product meet all the necessary safety criteria, such as load capacity and stability.

Since programs can be wrong in the calculation, empirical values ​​play an important role here. Therefore, it is possible to counteract at an early stage if, from experience, theoretical behaviours are somewhat different in reality. If no corrections are necessary, it goes into the prototype construction. This is the first time that the new spill pallet takes on a physical form. The tools for our polyethylene collection trays were previously developed in the in-house mould shop.

More than 50,000 spill pallets are produced annually at DENIOS.



Quality assurance for every single product

DENIOS spill pallets are manufactured under high quality standards in our in-house production facility and factory production controls have been put in place for both steel and PE spill pallets.

Additionally, for each product manufactured by DENIOS, a drawing is included, listing all the parameters to be tested. This is recorded with a special measuring device, digitized and recorded in an electronic measuring protocol. It is automatically determined whether all set points are adhered to. The main features of the sump will also be checked and checked again. In the case of a PE spill pallet, this is done by means of a wall thickness measurement (screening inspection).
